On Monday, November 6th at 10:30 AM Iowans from the First Congressional District gathered outside Congressman Rod Blum's empty office on 3rd Street in Cedar Rapids.
Blum has refused to meet publicly since May of 2017 and will not hold public or published office hours so that his constituents can have a dialogue with him about issues important to them.
From the lack of government resources available to help constituents enroll in the ACA to cuts to Medicaid and Medicare to the disastrous tax bill proposed by the House, his constituents wanted to share how his actions continue to harm them.
Today, constituents met to speak with a cardboard cut-out of the congressman, since the real one is not available to speak to constituents.
These individuals held signs outside the office and shared information about how to sign up for the ACA with those passing by. They visited the Blum's new office to find the lights on, but the door locked.
ACA sign-up forms were left for staffers to help constituents who may need assistance signing up for coverage through the exchange.
